Today was super hot, even at 6am. I am a little sore from ice skating last night so the run was somewhat painful, but I’m so excited about my day at the resort that I didn’t even think about how much the run probably sucked. In fact, I should really go do a thousand crunches this morning before I go! :)

See you all tomorrow!

*song of the day* Panic At The Disco “That Green Gentlemen”

May 16, 2008

Today I tried to run, but ended up being freaked out by suspicious subjects wandering the neighborhood. Not so fun. I’m glad I didn’t go out alone today and I don’t think I will again unless I take a cell phone and mace, yikes! I wish I would’ve gotten a longer run in, I’m feeling kind of ‘off’ now. I’ll have to make up for it tomorrow morning.

May 15, 2008

4 and a half hours of sleep is not quite enough. Stranger Than Fiction was on last night and I couldn’t turn it off! (love that show!) I dragged myself through my three miles way too early, and then did my meager weight workout. I’m just glad I actually heard the alarm at all today! A half-a**ed workout is better than none, right?! :)

Today is my husband’s birthday so he is taking the day off to do something. Not sure what he has in mind yet, but I’m sure there will be some relaxing involved. Here’s one of his favorite songs to help start his day…

~miles~3

*song of the day* The Cardigans “Lovefool”

May 14, 2008

I got up and ran and because I was such a lazy butt yesterday, I immediately came home and showered so I wouldn’t put off really starting my day. It was pretty cool this morning and I even wore a jacket for the first mile, but I just got back from the park and it was hot enough to let the kids run through the sprinklers. (but I didn’t this time)

Yesterday was cold and wet, and now today is perfect and sunny. This week is just full of surprises…

~miles~6?

*song of the day* Death Cab For Cutie “I Will Possess Your Heart”

May 13, 2008

I slept in today which was not a huge surprise after getting to sleep after midnight. I still went running and ran into a friend that I haven’t seen since she ran the Boston Marathon. Turns out she did not have a great race and is just now dealing with all those built up emotions. Sure sounds like what I was writing about last night…

Arizona is beautiful today with blue storm clouds and a wind that carries the scent of newly trimmed sage. Smells SO good outside. I think I’ll eat my breakfast on the patio today.

~miles~4

*song of the day* The Shins “New Slang”

May 12, 2008

Another good run today. This is the week for me to get back into a good workout routine again. Today is just running, abs and yoga. Tomorrow is running, weights and pilates. Friday and Saturday I know I’ll be in a swimsuit all day and that thought alone is all I need to stay motivated! ;)

Happy Monday everyone!

~miles~3.5

*song of the day* Madonna ft. Justin Timberlake “4 Minutes” Back to some real running music…

May 11, 2008

No running on Sunday. Sometimes I would really like to run on Sunday, but…you know, Sabbath and all! ;)

This morning was really nice and calm. Kids and hubby made me a nice breakfast and some cute cards. Nothing exciting, but I did have a very good interview that made me feel more optimistic about my life. Thank goodness for inspired people who are more in-tune than I am. Today’s been a good day…

~miles~millions

*song of the day* John Mayer “Daughters”

May 10, 2008

Almost stepped on a coiled up snake this morning. It was dead, but still made me jump about 5 feet! I need to start watching for those I guess. Yikes!

Feeling pretty good today. I’m planning on doing a little re-arranging and a lot of cleaning. Usually this is stuff I put off, but I need some mindless yet productive time like this. Maybe I’ll even go get some paint for my house. Don’t want to live in a beige world anymore.

~miles~5

*song of the day* Blue October ft. Imogen Heap “Congratulations”

May 9, 2008

Today was less torturous getting out of bed. Maybe it helped that I actually went to bed before 11. Someday I’ll learn. Today my body wanted to keep going, but I was with friends who all wanted to do a weight workout too, so we cut the run to give us some time.

I really need the extra workouts with all of the junk I have eaten this week. I seriously ate every bit of chocolate in our house. (not to mention the half of the jar of peanut butter!) I’m done with that now, and am ready to start eating and living like I should.

~miles~3.25

*song of the day* James “Say Something”

May 8, 2008

Was planning on a long 8 miler today, but my body is not cooperating. I think I have had 4 mini periods in the last two weeks…very strange. I guess it could just be stress, but it’s not convenient and I’m ready for it to stop, thank you very much! Sheesh!

Still ended up being a good run even if the last mile or so was a little forced. I’m glad I am still getting out of bed and running. Makes me feel like I have control over something, even if it is just running…

~miles~7.5

*song of the day* Radiohead “Creep”

May 7, 2008

I feel more human today. I had a really long, much needed conversation with my sister yesterday and life doesn’t feel so impossible today. I don’t know why I always think I can handle things on my own, clearly not the case.

~miles~5

*song of the day* Screaming Trees “Nearly Lost You” (totally selfish flashback song for me)

May 6, 2008

What a strange week. I had to run a little earlier this morning and I still don’t feel quite awake yet. I did do a short weight workout and was surprised that it didn’t seem too bad considering how weak I feel today. Hopefully by the end of the week I’ll be doing both workouts without all the fatigue. Crossing my fingers…

~miles~4

*song of the day* The Bravery “Believe”

May 5, 2008

I think this is the first time I haven’t updated my running log. Weird. I didn’t run over the weekend as I was away at girl scout camp, but today I had a good run with a friend. I’m still waiting for that relaxed feeling after coming home, but I think I was calmer being away. Maybe I need a solo vacation…

~miles~6

*song of the day* Sara Bareilles “Love Song”

May 2, 2008

Got up this morning and just ran. Don’t really know how far I went or how fast, only that I was gone for over an hour. I wish I could take my running shoes camping with me this weekend. I could sure use more long solo runs.

~miles~5?

*song of the day* Fiction Plane “Two Sisters”

May 1, 2008

I am so sick today. I didn’t go back to bed until 3:30 am. Whole body aches. Need to sleep…

~miles~0

*song of the day* Matisyahu “Jerusalem”

April 30, 2008

I finally got a decent sized run in today. It still wasn’t very fast, but it felt good to do a longer distance. I’m ready to start pushing myself more, so next week it’s back to track nights and speed-work. Can’t wait!

~miles~5

*song of the day* KT Tunstall “Hold On” Very fun video. I like it almost as much as the song! Enjoy.

April 29, 2008

I just finished a short run and a short weight workout and feel like crawling into bed and going back to sleep. I won’t of course, but sleeping the day away in a comfy bed sure sounds good right now! Instead, I’m going to do exciting things like laundry. Yay.

~miles~2.5

*song of the day* Macy Gray “I Try”

April 28, 2008

I ran with an old running partner and had a nice walk/run. The weather is perfect at 5:30am and I hope that it will stay this way for at least another month!

~miles~5

*song of the day* Metallica “Nothing Else Matters”

April 27, 2008

Today is not going to be a lazy Sunday….too many places to go. All good places though. :)

I heard this song last night as I sat eating chocolate raspberry truffle cheesecake at Cheesecake Factory. Both were really good…

~miles~0

*song of the day* Nina Gordon “Tonight And The Rest Of My Life”

April 26, 2008

I took too long to leave the house today and it was pretty hot when I started to run. I didn’t have any running goals today, so I just took my time and did a very SLOW 4 miles. Today felt more like a time out than a workout, but I sure need those once in a while! Happy Saturday everyone.

~miles~4

*song of the day* Bush “Comedown”

April 25, 2008

Today was only a short run because I pulled myself out of bed a little late. I went to bed at 10, which is early for me, so I’m not sure why I couldn’t get up. I feel much better now and I’m ready to shower and start my day. I’m a little sore from the whole 20 lunges I did yesterday (pathetic), so I’m thinking I need to fit in some yoga today and maybe some ab-work.

~miles~2.5

*song of the day* The Cranberries “Just My Imagination”

April 24, 2008

I feel great this morning! I finally got up for a run and it was just what I needed to clear my head and re-energize. I keep having this line from a kids movie running through my head. . .”today is a new day”. It truly is, isn’t it? Good morning everyone.

~miles~5

*song of the day* Morcheeba “Enjoy The Ride” I know, random video and such. First time hearing it.

April 23, 2008

Didn’t sleep at all last night. No running today.

~miles~0

*song of the day* When In Rome “The Promise”

April 22, 2008

I don’t feel half as tired as I did yesterday. Maybe it’s because I actually got up and did something today. :) The weather is awesome today. Very soon it will be too warm to be outside a lot with the kids, so this is going to be an outdoor activity week for sure! Time to go buy new swimsuits for the fam!

~miles~3 (walking)

*song of the day* The Smashing Pumpkins “Thirty Three”

April 21, 2008

No running today, but I think I might actually try to tomorrow. (just long enough to loosen the muscles) I feel pretty good so I’ll give it a try. I am pretty tired from the trip, so today I’m just going to chill with my kids and do as little as possible.

Here’s a song from an artist that always reminds me of Utah. Enjoy!

Today is a good day– it’s the day K comes home!! Her marathon was a total success– she finished in 4 hours and 35 minutes and really wasn’t even sore this morning. (She told me that means she just should have pushed harder). That’s K for you . . .

I’ve had a great weekend at home with the miniSpins, but I can’t wait for her to get back. When Kspin’s here, the air is sweeter, the sun is a little brighter, and all of life’s little ‘pieces’ just seem to fit better. :)

April 19, 2008 (posted by jSpin)

HEY EVERYONE, SHE DID IT!! :) I talked to K a few hours ago, just minutes after she finished the marathon. She sounded vibrant, strong, and happy! I’ll let her give you the details, but it sounds like she did awesome. Here’s to K!

April 18, 2008 (posted by jSpin)

Tomorrow’s the big day! I spoke to K a couple of times today and she sounded good, relaxed. I think she’s both mentally and physically prepared for the marathon tomorrow– probably even much more so than she thinks. She asked me to post something kind of low key and mellow for the VOTD. That was easy. No one does mellow with more style than Morcheeba. Here’s ‘Blindfold’ from their Big Calm album. I doubt she’ll see this before the race, but I’m sure it will send her some nice subliminal chillout vibes during her pre-race sleep.

Good luck tomorrow K! Remember that J and the miniSpins are always with you my love. Sleep well, run fast, and always believe in yourself. Nighty night.

K arrived safe in SLC late last night and all is well. 2 more days to race day and it looks like the forecast is calling for much better weather than we originally thought. In light of this good news, I chose an appropriate song from one of Kspin’s favorite bands, Duran Duran. I was surprised that she hasn’t used any of their songs for the Video of the Day yet . . . (maybe she didn’t tell you she’s had a crush on Simon since she was about 6 years old!). Here’s to sunny skies and springtime in Salt Lake!

April 16, 2008 (posted by jSpin)

Hi there, KSpinners . . . jSpin here. Well everyone, K’s on her way! She left this morning on her roadtrip to Utah to spin run her little heart out. (She was gracious enough to allow me to maintain her blog while she’s gone.)

Whenever I think of roadtrips, I always think back to the summer of ‘97 when K bought her very first ‘new’ car. It was a cute Pontiac Sunfire coupe. We LOVED that car! The week she got the Sunfire, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones had just released their album, ‘Let’s Face It’. There was something about that album sounded so good on her car stereo, so we listened to it nonstop that summer. Good times– a fast car built for two, sunshine, roadtrips to Vegas, young love (aww!), and the Bosstones. What more can you ask for?! Here’s a track from that album. . . we heart you K!

April 15, 2008

I am feeling a little more prepared to not only run the race, but leave my house. I was up and ready to run super early and now my day is trucking right along! There is still a lot to do, but it all feels manageable! I think I’m finally ready.

~miles~6

*song of the day* Colin Hay “Waiting For My Real Life To Begin”

April 14, 2008

I had a great run and workout this morning. The first mile was really slow, but by the last half mile I was sprinting and it felt good. I feel like I’ve really let my cross-training go, but doing weights this morning didn’t kill me so I guess that’s a good sign.

~miles~4

*song of the day* Weezer “Island In The Sun”

April 13, 2008

My knees are surprisingly sore after such a short run yesterday. Maybe it’s all in my head… :) No running today as I usually don’t workout on Sundays, but I think I am going to take a really long walk this evening to give my legs a good stretch.

Hope you are having a relaxing Sunday too.

~miles~0

*song of the day* Labhaoise Brennen “One Day At A Time”

April 12, 2008

Wow. One week and I’ll be running 26.2. It has been 3 years since since I ran my first marathon and I’m beginning to have those pre-race jitters. Last night I dreamt that I forgot my race bib and the race officials wouldn’t let me run. The day before that it was my shoes… I think the nightmares will continue until Sat! :)

I left a little later thank I should have today, and it was pretty hot. Utah’s weather might just be perfect for a marathon after all. We’ll see.

~miles~10

*song of the day* Jason Mraz “I’m Yours” I have used this song before, but this video wasn’t available before. It’s a nice one, you should watch it.

April 11, 2008

Only 4 hours of sleep, but I’m not too sleepy. Strange. I had a great run today and I’m just about to start a weight workout. Hope everyone has a great Friday!

~miles~5

*song of the day* Dido “Hunter”

April 10, 2008

I feel a thousand times better today. Well, maybe only ten, but the key is I am feeling better. Cold is down to only sniffles, and I feel like I have energy to push myself this last week. I know this is the time most people taper, but I really want this race to be my best.

~miles~4

*song of the day* Joe Anderson “Hey Jude”

April 9, 2008

I’m starting to get nervous about the marathon. Because of my cold, I have been totally lazy and my cross-training has all but stopped. I did get out for a short run this morning, and I’m not going to shower until I get a weight workout in. I really want to get back to the point I was at a few weeks ago. I guess I’ll start now!

~miles~2.5

*song of the day* Mika “Lollipop”

April 8, 2008

Had a great run this morning. Had a hard time getting out of bed because of late night blogging, but survived. :) 10 days left! The countdown begins!

I went on a field trip with my daughter today and had a great time. This song of the day is for her, it’s one of her favorites.

~miles~4

*song of the day* Natasha Bedingfield “These Words”

April 7, 2008

My head is fuzzy today. I think I’m getting the start of a head cold/sinus infection and I CANNOT afford to be sick this close to my race. I’m popping pills and eating everything I can with vitamin c, in hopes that I can shake it. Time will tell I guess.

April 6, 2008

No running, just some new music to enjoy. I hope everyone is having a nice weekend.

April 5, 2008

I got a late start this morning due to a sick boy keeping me up. It was super hot, but the run itself was not totally unbearable. All of my friends are injured or sick so yet again another long solo run. I don’t mind so much. The time to meditate and reflect is always welcome.

~miles~16

*song of the day* David Gray “Please Forgive Me”

April 4, 2008

Today is cross-training day. Tomorrow is long run day. If I can’t stand the thought of taking a day off of running, I just may do a night run later tonight. For now I have to get my house ready for the in-laws!

~miles~0

*song of the day* No Doubt “Running”

April 3, 2008

Wow, two days of running in a row! I can NOT go that long without running again. I just don’t function properly without it! I did a short solo run today because I slept in, but I needed to break in new running shoes, so it worked.

I feel alive again today and I’m ready to tackle all that lies ahead. I wonder what will come next after this race for me? I’m excited for the possibilities!

~miles~5

*song of the day* Fall Out Boy “Beat It” I found this video as I was looking up another FOB song, and it ROCKS!!! Great cover!

April 2, 2008

I was finally able to get out for a run. It felt good at first, but by the end my lungs were burning. I’ll be better tomorrow.

*song of the day* The Verve “Sonnet”

Mar. 31, 2008

I’m a single mom this week so my running may be on hold until Thursday. Unless I want to run 5 miles while pushing a double stroller in 80 degree weather of course. Hmmm. I’ll have to make sure and get a lot of walking and cross training in I guess.

I booked my plane ticket last night and I’m so excited to go ‘home’.

~miles~0

*song of the day* Band Of Horses ” The Great Salt Lake*

Mar. 30, 2008

It’s still Saturday night, but knowing that I’m not going to run tomorrow (today), I thought I would update now.

I hope you all enjoy your Sunday, and while you are relaxing (hopefully), you should check out some more music from this artist I chose for the song of the day. He had a song called “Days Go By” that was popular a while back, but this one sounds nothing like it. I really like the diversity in their music style. Great stuff. Check it out.

~miles~0

*song of the day* Dirty Vegas “Walk Into The Sun”

Mar. 29, 2008

I don’t think I could’ve run today after dancing with a million girl scouts and their moms last night at a pj party. I forget how tired you are after dancing! Especially when you are doing silly line dances like “cha cha slide” (which I actually really like) and the chicken dance.

I think the dj forgot the audience that he was playing for as some of the songs were a little too adult for our 6 to 10 year olds. I don’t know, maybe Fergie is a good role model for girls….she does wear a g.s. uniform! :) I do have to admit, this song is pretty catchy. Good running or workout song anyway.

~miles~0

*song of the day* Fergie “Fergalicious”

Mar. 28, 2008

I did my long run a day early and it’s so nice to know I’m done for the week! I talked my ‘newbie’ running partner into doing my first 8 miles with me, which ended up actually being 9, and she breezed through it like the trooper that she is. I got to stop at home to refuel and then went for my last 7 with nothing but my music.

Now I’m on my patio with my cinnamon oatmeal squares, my laptop and my kids playing near me. It’s going to be a bright beautiful day.

~miles~ 16

*song of the day* Paramore “Brighter”

Mar. 27, 2008

Nice run and workout this morning. Good thing I ordered new shoes, I am getting blisters and I never get them! Ouch. I guess they have reached their limit. Today I feel like I have too.

~miles~4

*song of the day* Lily Allen “Don’t Get Me Wrong”

Mar. 26, 2008

I had a nice run but felt distracted the whole time. All of the plans I made all winter are now upon me and I’m not sure if I am ready for everything. I wonder if it’s just the anticipation of completing another major goal. I just need to think positive and remember all of the things I have learned from past races and apply those things now. Isn’t that what life is all about?

~miles~6

*song of the day* Dave Matthews Band “Satellite”

Mar. 25, 2008

Wow, where is this month going?! My sick running partner is now my injured running partner. We tried to run 7 miles this morning and had to walk the last half. She is the last one still running the marathon with me so I’m hoping this is something that will heal…crossing my fingers.

I have already ran, finished my morning core workout and ate breakfast. I guess I can do something fun and relaxing now today. Hmmm. Any ideas?

~miles~4 + 3 walking

*song of the day* George Michael “Kissing A Fool”

Mar. 24, 2008

It is so nice to get started on my weekly workout routine again. I look forward to my early mornings and the prospects of a new day. It also helps that Arizona is gorgeous right now. The orange trees are in bloom and the scent is heavenly. It smells like walking off a plane in Hawaii. Ahhh…. I heart spring…

~miles~3 (and weights this morning)

*song of the day* Oasis “Songbird”

Mar. 23, 2008

Wishing you all a relaxing Easter with your families!

Today’s song is by Aaron Ivey from my blogroll. He is an incredible writer and I forget that he is also an amazing musician. He has many other great songs on his myspace page if you want to check them out. Great stuff. Enjoy.

*song of the day* Spur 58 “Ready To Love”

Mar. 22, 2008

My running partner is sick and the idea of a 16 mile solo run didn’t sound so fun to me at 6am. I opted for an 8am tempo run instead and it kicked my butt! I couldn’t slow down though because I didn’t want to miss the egg hunt! Now I’m going to shower and relax…

Here’s a relaxing song to finish off my surf/beach/island music week. Hope you enjoyed it!

~miles~8

*song of the day* Jem “Wish I”

Mar. 21, 2008

No running partner today, so I had to wait for the sun to rise before I left. I did a short run and didn’t take my heavy water bottle holder and ended up ditching my jacket behind a shrub. Sometimes I forget how free it feels just to run without all the extra baggage…

It’s going to be a sunny day in AZ and it is already hot at 8 am. (for running anyway) Summer is officially here. Better start those sit-ups!

~miles~4

*song of the day* Sublime “Bad Fish” Yet again, another good beach song but crappy video. My apologies.

Mar. 20, 2008

No running today.

~miles~0

*song of the day* Israel Kamakawiwo’ole “Somewhere Over The Rainbow”

Mar. 19, 2008

I had a sort of decent length run today but I really need to be doing longer distances all the time. My energy level is a little low, but that could be from staying up too late. I need more sleep! Maybe just a vacation…to a beach!

~miles~6.6

*song of the day* Jack Johnson “Better Together”

Mar. 18, 2008

I can tell that I didn’t stretch enough yesterday, and those extra leg-lifts were probably not a great idea. I am so stiff today that it is hard to go up and down the stairs. I need to be more careful with my cross training. Only 31 days until the marathon…

I have decided that it will be surf music or ocean video week. I’m due for a visit to the beach, how about you?

~miles~4

*song of the day* 311 “Love Song” Ok, this one might not be a beach song, but it reminds me of my time in Hawaii.

Mar. 17, 2008

It was a killer to get out of bed today, but after a short run and a date with some weights I feel almost human. The soreness that I thought I had avoided hit me today. . .time for some stretching. I think I’ll make it a mellow day with surf-music and lots of yoga. Sounds nice doesn’t it? Good morning everyone.

Oh, and Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

~miles~2

*song of the day* Porno For Pyros “Bali Eyes” No, I don’t like cats. This is the only video for this song. Don’t watch, just listen. Srsly.

Mar. 16, 2008

I love Sundays. Sleeping in and moving slow. All good things.

~miles~0

*song of the day* Maroon 5 “Sunday Morning” I know I have used this song before, but this is the perfect day for it. Enjoy.

Mar. 15, 2008

Today was the perfect day to run. The high was only 70 and there was a light cloud cover the entire morning. We ran Usery which is usually hopping with other runners and bikers, but was nice and quiet today. There were only two of us and we both had one of our personal best runs. It’s so much easier to run with someone who matches my pace and doesn’t expect that we will ‘chat’ the whole time. Overall, I am sore but very pleased with the run. Sometimes I come home thinking that I could have done more, but this was my best 20 miler I have ever had.

~miles~20

*song of the day* Sugar Ray “Someday” I really wanted to do Heaven, but alas, no video. This is still a good one!

Mar. 14, 2008

This morning I ran for a 2 mile warm-up and then did a nice, kind of short, weight workout. It felt so good to do a bench press. It had been so long that I didn’t even put weights on the bar! Embarrassing. I have lost a lot of my strength and I am now determined to get it back. I didn’t want to overdo it today because of my long run tomorrow, but I can’t wait to hit it hard next week! Maybe if I work hard I can look like Christina….ok, maybe not.

~miles~2

*song of the day* Christina Aguilera “Ain’t No Other Man”

Mar. 13, 2008

Last night’s track workout was incredible! I don’t think that I had been really pushing myself to see what I really could do, and last night I was running my little guts out! A couple of times I thought I would have to stop to throw up but thankfully that didn’t happen. I don’t know if running Ragnar has made me more aware of what my body is actually capable of, or if I feel like I have something to prove to myself, but either way I feel like I have something to fight for.

I was so worn out this morning that I didn’t do my 5:30 run. I don’t feel bad one bit! I’ll still do some cross-training and maybe some walking tonight and will just fine about skipping one running day!

~miles~0(today) 5.5(last night)

*song of the day* DHT “I Can’t Be Your Friend” Okay, about this song. I have wanted to do this one for a while, but all the videos are seriously lame. This was the least nauseating. If anyone can find a better one, please let me know.

Mar. 12, 2008

I had such good dreams and sleep last night. I love those nights when you wake up and know there is more good things to come, so it is a pleasure to get out of bed and start your day….

~miles~5.5

*song of the day* Jack Johnson “Angel”

Mar. 11, 2008

Today was another great run. I am running with a fairly new runner and though it is a little slower I don’t feel like I am dragging. I will have to sneak in a couple of solo runs to work on my speed, but that’s what track night is for right?

~miles~6.7

*song of the day* Gwen Stefani “The Sweet Escape”

Mar. 10, 2008

Today I was up at 5:15 getting ready to run. I grabbed my water bottle and had a couple bites of my zone perfect bar and headed out. It’s getting lighter in the mornings which is great because I’m starting to run at 5:30 now. In about a month or two I’ll have to move it to 4:30 because of the heat. I’m not so excited for that! I have 39 days until the marathon, so this summer won’t involve intense training like last year, but I may start biking…..

It’s supposed to be 80 degrees all week and all I can think of is summer, so I thought I would share one of my favorite summer songs.

~miles~5

*song of the day* Will Smith “Summertime”

Mar. 9, 2008

I really cut back on my running this week but I have been eating the same and it is NOT good! I feel like a beached whale! Tomorrow I start weight training and I can’t wait.

*song of the day* Coldplay “Trouble”

Mar. 8, 2008

Today has been strange. I got up and ran at 6am here on my own stomping grounds. I ran, went home, ate oatmeal, did a crossword puzzle and mopped the kitchen all by 10am. Lately my Saturday runs involve driving for an hour to find a ‘hill’ and then running forever and getting home between noon and 2pm. This is such a nice change. I was on such a roll cleaning, that I just remembered to take a break to update!

Here’s one of the songs that I’m jamming out to while I clean! Enjoy!

~miles~10

*song of the day* Timbaland Ft. Justin Timberlake “Release”

Mar. 7, 2008

I didn’t run again today. Weird. I did do two toning workouts yesterday and yoga so I still feel pretty good. Tomorrow I must run. It’s amazing how much I miss it when I don’t go regularly, though I think my body has been happy for the break.

~miles~0

*song of the day* Pink “Get This Party Started” (good weekend starter song!)

Mar. 6, 2008

I tried something new today. I got up and did a weight training workout on fitTv. It was only half an hour long, so I may have to do another one today to count as a real workout. But it’s a start.

I think I’ve played all of the artists on Stephanie Meyer’s list that I like. The others…well, not so much. Back to my own pickings! :) Here’s something from my college years.

~miles~0

*song of the day* Paul Westerberg “Can’t Hardly Wait”

Mar. 5, 2008

Tonight is track night so I had the morning off again. Scary as this thought is, I’m starting to not like sleeping in. I do much better when I get up early and run right away. There must be something wrong with me! :)

~miles~0 (so far)

*song of the day* Linkin Park “Bleed It Out”

Mar. 4, 2008

Running today was freezing! Of course it would be in the eighties during the race, and now we have a cold spell. It really did feel good to get and run despite the cold. I wanted to go for a longer run, but had to get back to get everyone off to work and school. Maybe tomorrow.

~miles~3

*song of the day* Muse “Bliss”

Mar. 3, 2008

Only walking for this chica today. I am feeling a little more human today, but I am so stiff that I almost tumbled down the stairs this morning! I’m leaving to go walking now so we’ll see if this helps!

~miles~2?

*song of the day* Travis “Big Chair”

Mar. 2, 2008

I lived through Ragnar. Barely.

~miles~0

*song of the day* Blue October “Calling You”

Mar. 1, 2008

If all goes well and our timing is accurate, I’ll be running at 1:14 am and again at 10:55 am. These are going to be the rough ones! This is where I see if I in fact worked hard enough…

~miles~6.9 and 5.5

*song of the day* Coldplay “Yellow”

Feb. 29, 2008

It’s not really the 29th yet, but I will be without access to my pc, but I know what and when I’ll be running, so why not do it now? I’ll be running in Wickenburg today at about 11:40 am, probably out in the middle of nowhere. Can’t wait!

~miles~5.9

*song of the day* The Strokes “You Only Live Once”

Feb. 28, 2008

Last night all of my running friends got together to ‘bling’ up our shoes and visors for the race tomorrow. Wow, we are all a crafty bunch! Who knew? I was up way too late so I didn’t get up to run, but I’ll be doing plenty of that soon! Wish me luck!

~miles~0

*song of the day* Gomez “Whippin’ Piccadilly” (awesome video)

Feb. 27, 2008

I think I ‘m officially over the cold or whatever I had. Running felt good today and now I’ll just take it easy until race day! 2 days left!

The last 2 days and now for the next two weeks, I am using songs from artists that are on Stephanie Meyers’ list of bands that she thanks at the end of her books. She seems to have the same taste in music as myself so I thought this would be a fun way to find new music.

~miles~5

*song of the day* Jack’s Mannequin “The Mixed Tape”

Feb. 26, 2008

I am still baby-ing myself so I didn’t run today. I do feel like the chest cold is letting up so I should be back to it tomorrow. Today is going to be a play day at the park.

Only 3 days left….

~miles~0

*song of the day* Marjorie Fair “Empty Room”

Feb. 25, 2008

Today my body hates me. It was harder to run this morning than my 15 mountain miles on Saturday. My lungs were really tight and I feel a cold coming on. I think I’ll pop some vitamins, some Airborne and try to take it easy today. I can not get sick this week!!!!

~miles~5

*song of the day* Elbow “Fallen Angel”

Feb. 24, 2008

I heard this song last night at a resturaunt and I had to look it up when I got home. Sometimes Alanis’s voice bugs me, but this cover is brilliant and she sounds great! Hope you all like it!

~miles~0

*song of the day* Alanis Morissette “Crazy” (Seal cover)

Feb. 23, 2008

I didn’t get home from running until 1:45. Long story, but there was a cancer walk going on at south mountain. Needless to say there were many people, dogs, strollers and us. Pretty cool, but lots of obstacles.

I have been thinking of my old hip-hop class and the dance to this song is the only one I can remember. Miss that class…*sigh*

~miles~15.5

*song of the day* Ciara ft. Missy Elliot “1,2 Step”

Feb. 22, 2008

Rest day and exactly one week until the race. I’m getting worried, I talked to someone who did this relay and said it brought her to tears. She is also a marathoner, so I guess it’s not the actual running, more of running with no sleep, alone in the desert, etc. What did I get myself into?

~miles~0

*song of the day* Kanye West “Stronger”

Feb. 21, 2008

After running the track last night I wasn’t sure I wanted to get up again and go again this morning, but I had promised a friend that I would meet her. She wasn’t there this morning, but I did a short one alone anyway and actually feel better than I probably would have if I slept in….I think.

~miles~3.5

*song of the day* One Republic/Timbaland “Apologize”

Feb. 20, 2008

Nice solo run this morning. It was almost warm enough to ditch the vest I was wearing. I hope the weather is this nice for my race next weekend!

~miles~3.3

*song of the day* The Beatles “Here Comes The Sun”

Feb. 19, 2008

I feel great today. Not only did I get to run, but I also did a 2 mile walk with many other women with strollers. Sorry if you had to drive in our neighborhood today while we were hogging the road! :) Beautiful sunny day in AZ!

~miles~7

*song of the day* Jason Mraz “I’m Yours”

Feb. 18, 2008

If I run today, it will have to be at night. My stomach is doing flip flops and I think I’ll take it easy until I know if I am sick or not.

~miles~0 (so far)

*song of the day* Coldplay “Fix You”

Feb. 17, 2008

I got to nap and read yesterday. . .and that was about it. It was so great! I am now onto book 3 now and I was amazed how much I loved number 2. There was SO much in it that I could relate to. In the credits, Stephanie thanks the bands that help her with inspiration and there was Travis, Muse, The Fray, etc. No wonder I love the books!

~miles~0

*song of the day* The Fray “Over My Head”

Feb. 16, 2008

I got sucked into book #2 of the Twilight series last night at went to bed at 1am! Not a great idea because I had to get up and run at 5:30. There were only 2 of us for this early morning run, but we seem to run at the same tempo so I got to run at my own pace.

We were able to chat the whole run until the last 3 miles when we on busier roads. It was as great as running 20 miles could be I guess. So far I feel great am not that tired or sore. We’ll see how I do the rest of the day and tomorrow!

This song was playing when my alarm went off this morning. I remember going to see this band while I was in high school, and I seriously don’t think I have heard it since then! Enjoy!

~miles~20!!

*song of the day* School Of Fish “3 Strange Days”

Feb. 15, 2008

TGIF!!!

I was pleasantly surprised this morning to hear pouring rain on my roof when my alarm went off at 5:30. I quickly changed it to 7:00 and fell right back to sleep. I think it’s a sign to take a break today. I should with my first 20 miler coming up tomorrow! Wish me luck!

~miles~0

*song of the day* Frou Frou “Holding Out For A Hero”

Feb. 14, 2008

Today was the prettiest sunrise I have seen for a long time. It looked more like a sunset because of all the pink and orange colors. By the time I got home from running it was too light to get a good shot, so at least I’m writing it down so I will remember.

This morning was a little windy, but not as bad as it was last night. I was so pleased with myself at the track. I ran most of my ‘ladders’ in under 8 min. miles, which is really fast for me. I think the last 4oo-meter and 200-meter I was at 7min. 40sec. This morning I took it easy and just ran @ about a 10 minute pace. It felt good after pushing so hard last night.

This is the last love song of the week. This song is from the Across the Universe soundtrack, and I love how they put the new song with the original Beatles video. The new video is on Youtube now as well if you want to see it. Enjoy, and Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!

~miles~3.5

*song of the day* Jim Sturgess “Something”

Feb. 13, 2008

Tonight is track night, so no morning running. Good thing too because I was sleepy today! I think I will try something new and update this after I go to the track. It is my running log after all, right?

~miles~4.5 (until tonight) updated

*song of the day* Imogean Heap “Goodnight And Go”

Feb. 12, 2008

I only needed my jacket for the first mile. I love that! I love that until it’s 90 degrees at 7am, but for now it’s been a really nice change. It’s definetly a park day today!

I have used this song before, but I’m not sure if anyone really listens to the songs anyway so I guess it’s ok. Good love song!

~miles~5.6

*song of the day* Ingrid Michaelson “The Way I Am”

Feb. 11, 2008

Nice short run this morning. I think this might be the last week of short ones. I have been lazy about my weekday mileage and I should probably be doing a minimum of 5 each day. I guess I better step it up!

One of the best songs ever written. . . enjoy!

~miles~3.3

*song of the day* Keane “Somewhere Only We Know”

Feb. 10, 2008

I didn’t incur any injuries or sore muscles from yesterdays run. . .except for this wicked sunburn on one side of my neck! That’s going to look real pretty at church! Time to break out the sunscreen!

I don’t run on Sundays, but I like to update and add a song anyway. I think this week will all be lovesongs to celebrate Vantine’s Day! (It’s Thursday for all the men out there that read this and may forget)

~miles~0

*song of the day* Norah Jones “Come Away With Me”

Feb. 9, 2008

I limped the last mile but I still feel pretty good! I was starting to feel like my marathon training was lagging, but I am right on track with my goals. I am hoping to beat my last SL marathon time by 20 minutes. It’s a little ambitious but I still have 60 something days of training left! If I do this I’ll finish right around 4 hours and 20 minutes. (or 4.20….ha ha!) I think I’m delirious! I better go eat some real food now!

~miles~18

*song of the day* Blue October “Into The Ocean”

Feb. 8, 2008

Tomorrow calls for 18 miles on my schedule, so today is a rest day to get ready for that. It seems awfully early to be doing 18, but this is the same schedule I followed while preparing for my other marathon, so I guess I will do it.

It makes me tired thinking about it!

~miles~0

*song of the day* Theivery Corporation “Lebanese Blond”

Feb. 7, 2008

In case you were wondering, doing eight 800-meter runs @ a 5k pace, and eight 200-meter sprints kick my butt! Just so you know. (last night’s workout)

This morning I was still tired from the track last night, but it felt good to have a normal easy run to get me going. It was a little warmer today and it supposedly will hit 70 degrees this weekend, so I’m going to try to be outside as much as possible!

~miles~4

*song of the day* Travis “Hit Me Baby One More Time” I think I actually like the cover more than the original! He does a beautiful job!

Feb. 6, 2008

Tonight is track night, so I got to sleep in this morning! I only have 23 days until my race so I am needing to stay consistant with my training. I felt great after my run yesterday, so I’m pretty sure my injuries are gone. I can’t wait to see how I do with my tempo work tonight!

~miles~4 (later)

*song of the day* Donna Lewis “I Love You”

Feb. 5, 2008

It was so hard to drag myself out of bed today, sleeping felt too good. I did finally force myself to get up and get dressed and I hurried out the door to get a quick run in. I was thinking I would take it easy, but I don’t think my body and mind were cooperating with each other. It was a short run, but it felt like I was a new runner again. I guess taking a week off will do that.

Here is one of the first songs I ever ran to. . . since I am starting over.

~miles~2.9

*song of the day* Franz Ferdinand “Take Me Out”

Feb. 4, 2008

Of course because I really want to run today it’s pouring rain! These are the days when a treadmill would be really handy! I am staying in my workout clothes so I will at least do yoga or some other workout!

~miles~0

*song of the day* REM “The One I Love”

Feb. 3, 2008

Oops! I almost forgot to update today!

I spent the day with my mom before she flew out this evening. No running today, just church, visits with family and picking oranges. Mmmm.

~miles~0

*song of the day* The Shins “Caring Is Creepy”

Feb. 2, 2008

I went and watched some of my friends do London’s Run this morning at Schnepf Farms. It was so nice to be able to cheer for all of them as they crossed the finish line! This run is for a really great cause, so you should check out the links!

I felt like a proud Momma with her kids! Not that I am the one responsible for my friends’ progress, but I have watched each one of these women work hard to reach their own personal goals, and our group goals. Working with them has made me a better runner and a better person in general. I couldn’t ask for better friends.

~miles~0 for my injured self!

*song of the day* Maroon 5 “Must Get Out” Don’t worry, my Maroon 5 high will wear off soon and I will add more variety! For now, just listen and enjoy! :)

Feb. 1, 2008

No running, but my leg is getting better. I danced all night and felt great, but now I feel hung-over! I think I got 3 hours of sleep….but I still have a smile.

I think this is one of my very favorite Maroon 5 songs. Adam sang it last night and it was even better live! Enjoy.

~miles~0

*song of the day* Maroon 5 “Won’t Go Home Without You”

Jan. 31, 2008

Exactly one month to my race and I have a pulled hamstring. Great. It still is sore today but not as bad. A weekend of rest sounds pretty good right now. . . for my leg too!

~miles~0

*song of the day* Sean Paul “Temperature”

Jan. 30, 2008

I didn’t get to bed any earlier, but I at least got up and tried to run. I only made it about half a mile and then my hamstring started to ache and I had to stop and walk. I haven’t ran since Saturday so I am hoping that my muscles are just tight from then. I’m supposed to go to the track tonight, so I’ll do a lot of stretching and just hope I’m not injured!

~miles~.5

*song of the day* Jem “Wish I”

Jan. 29, 2008

My sister and I stayed up until 2 decorating the house and shopping for my daughters birthday. Needless to say, I did not get a run in today. I’m going to have to really force myself to get to sleep at a decent time tonight!

~miles~0

*song of the day* No Doubt “Trapped In A Box”

Jan. 28, 2008

No running this morning, it’s pouring rain today. I just hope it doesn’t last all week, I need some sunshine.

~miles~0

*song of the day* Linkin Park “Shadow Of The Day”

Jan. 27, 2008

I was hoping to sleep in and take it easy this morning, but I ended up being awake with a sick baby most of the night. Better have a calm pretty song today. Enjoy.

~miles~0

*song of the day* U2 “Miss Sarajevo”

Jan. 26, 2008

Today was going to be a nice 10 mile run, but I got a little carried away and it turned into 14. I just can’t stop sometimes!

This is the first day this year that I actually got really hot during a run. I’m glad that I dressed in layers. It was only 45 degrees when we started, but it was almost 70 by the time we all finished. There were six of us today and it reminded me of training last fall. I have missed the camaraderie with the girls!

Great run, great friends.

~miles~14.2

*song of the day* Alkaline Trio “Mercy Me”

Jan. 25, 2008

I tried to stretch a bunch yesterday to help ease the pain. I had relief in the fact that I didn’t have to run this morning! Just walking and resting up for another long one tomorrow!

There is a club version for this song, but I couldn’t find a video for it! Still a good song. Enjoy!

~miles~0

*song of the day* The Lovemakers “Prepare For The Fight”

Jan. 24, 2008

All I can say today is OWW!!! I went to the track last night and did 4 miles of ‘tempo’ work, and also sprints (which I love!) Then got up this morning and went 4 more miles. But I was not fast. At all. My body hates me today. I think I need a hot tub!

~miles~4

*song of the day* Jack Johnson “Broken”

Jan. 23, 2008

It took getting up twice to get a run in today. I was supposed to meet a friend at 5, but apparently she slept in. I didn’t want to run in the dark alone, so I went home and got back into bed for a couple hours. I didn’t mind that part one bit. It was much harder dragging myself out the second time, but I got a run in and feel much better now.

This song kept me from falling asleep while I ran! Hope you all like it!

~miles~4.79

*song of the day* Foo Fighters “Pretender”

Jan. 22, 2008

This is the first morning that I haven’t needed my handy little head light because the moon was so bright. I got a good run in, and also made plans to go walking with some friends for 3 miles. Should be a productive day today

~miles~4

*song of the day* Sting “Send Your Love”

Jan. 21, 2008

I wanted to fully recover from Saturday, so no running today. I’m hoping to get in a good hour long of yoga later, or not. It’s gorgeous outside and I don’t want to miss out on that!

~miles today~0

*song of the day* Moby “Run On”

Jan. 20, 2008

I really should have taken a nap yesterday! I was tired and grumpy by the afternoon, but I feel much better after sleeping in and eating oatmeal and fresh berries.Yum!

Happily, the only thing that is sore from yesterday’s run is my butt! I should run hills more often! :)

~miles~0

*song of the day* Goo Goo Dolls “Long Way Down”

Jan. 19, 2008

It’s noon and I’m just getting back from my ‘morning’ run. Three of us went to South Mountain to do our long run today. It was my first hill training in a really long time, but I totally kicked butt! I surprised myself today. I guess the ‘core’ work is helping. It took a long time to get to the Mountain, but it was so nice to have a change of scenery.

Great morning, great run and great music!

~miles~14

*song of the day* U2 “Zooropa”

Jan. 18, 2008

I have my weekly long run tomorrow so today was a day off. I shouldn’t have, but I stayed up way too late knowing I didn’t have to get up to early. Now I am TIRED.

~miles~0

*song of the day* Band of Horses “Is There A Ghost”

Jan. 17, 2008

I ran one of my old routes, and some nice farmer had mowed down all of the brush and weeds. No tripping today!

~miles~ 4

*song of the day* Red Hot Chili Peppers “Roller Coaster”

Jan. 16, 2008

I did a quick solo run before my husband had to leave for work, and I felt faster than usual. Probably because I didn’t have anyone to blab to. Just me and the iPod.

~miles~3.4

*song of the day* Madonna “Hung Up”

Jan. 15, 2008

I only had time for a short one this morning. I’m already back at 6, so I guess I’ll get my yoga in early today!

This is one of my newest finds. Tons of soul, you can check their site here.

~miles~2.3

*song of the day* Rocca DeLuca and The Burden “Colorful”

Jan. 14, 2008

Today was warmer than usual, and darker. The stars were abnormally bright and I felt like I was running in the middle of the night, not 6am.

I haven’t started doing yoga since I left for Christmas and I have missed it. I actually made a weekly schedule so that I know I have the time set aside. I have never really been a list maker/follower so I am hoping this keeps me on track!

~miles~4

*song of the day* Jason Mraz “Bella Luna”

Jan. 13, 2008

No running today and no sore muscles either! I was wiped out by 10 last night, but I feel great now and am ready to hit it hard again Monday morning!

~miles~0

*song of the day* Corinne Bailey Rae “Put Your Records On”

Jan. 12, 2008

Three of us met this morning at 5:45 this morning and it was chilly! After my first 3 miles I was kicking myself that I didn’t grab my shuffle. The girls I were running with stopped no less than 5 times to ’stretch’ the first hour, and if I had it I would have taken off on my own for sure. Luckily one of them had to be home early so her husband picked both of them up, and I got to finish the last few miles on my own. It may have been quiet, but it’s was nice just to RUN!

I can’t complain too much. It is nice to have company when you are running 2 hours or more. I hate to drag out the long runs even more. I need to work in a couple solo runs this week so I can listen to all of the older music I have added too.

So I LOVE this Kylie Minogue song and I tried to find a video where she isn’t naked and writhing, and it’s just not going to happen but. . . I found this great cover of the same song by Coldplay of all bands! Hope you like it!

~miles~10.54

*song of the day* Coldplay “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head”

Jan. 11, 2008

Not only did I take running off today, but I got to sleep in. Ahhh. So nice!

I’m gearing up for my first ‘long’ run in a while. I’m supposed to run 10 to 12 miles tomorrow and I hope I’m not too slow. Ragnar is only 47 days away so everyone on my team is getting ready. I see more and more of them out training everyday. It seems like running partners were scarce for a while, but we’re all back in full force and I have no excuses not to be out there at least 4 days a week!

~miles~0

*song of the day* Foo Fighters “Times Like These”

Jan. 10, 2008

Today WAS painful getting up at 6! I didn’t go to bed that late, but I did walk 3 miles yesterday morning AFTER my run and breakfast. Maybe that’s why I grumbled the whole time I got ready to run. But I did go, and I got to run with C my favorite running partner. She is done recovering from knee issues and I am very happy to be training with her again! She has always acted as my ‘therapist’ and I could really use that right now!

~miles~ 4

*song of the day* The Mighty Mighty Bosstones “The Impression That I Get”

Jan. 9, 2008

It wasn’t too painful getting up at 6 today. It has still been raining here off and on so the air just smells good. I went from dead of winter to spring in two days. I love that. I think I need more ‘old school’ music in my running mix. I forgot how much I like this one. :)

~miles~3

*song of the day* Heavy D. and The Boyz “Now That We Found Love”

Jan. 8, 2008

I was supposed to run this morning, but didn’t hear my alarm going off. I need to get out of vacation mode!

~miles~0

*song of the day* Snow Patrol “Chocolate”

Jan. 7, 2008

I know, I skipped a few days. We had to leave earlier in the day on the 5th so we could miss a big storm. We only had bad weather the first hour, and the rest of the drive was nice.

This is my first morning back home and to ‘real’ life. I have been totally spoiled the last few weeks, and now I have to really focus on training. I am less than two months away for Ragnar, and three months to the marathon! I need to get going. . . tomorrow.

~miles~0

*song of the day* Dido “Don’t Leave Home”

Jan. 4, 2008

My last day in Utah. I’m going to try not to be sulky.

~miles~0

*song of the day* Skye Edwards (ex Morcheeba) “Feel Good Inc”. I love when one of my faves covers another!

Jan. 3, 2008

No running, did help my sister pack heavy boxes around though. I guess that counts as some sort of physical activity. I’m looking forward to starting up yoga again and being back to more of a routine. Vacation is great, but it feels like all I do is eat. A lot.

~miles~0

*song of the day* The Fray “Over My Head”

Jan. 2, 2008

I woke up with a bad head cold today. No running unless you count my nose.

~miles~0

*song of the day* Travis “Closer”

Jan. 1, 2008

Wow, new year! Cool. I think I need to upgrade my blog. I may have to do this soon because I can’t find videos for all the songs I have, or I can’t find a video I am happy with. Here’s a good song not on my running playlist.

~miles~0

*song of the day* The Church “Under The Milky Way”

Dec. 31, 2007

So I ran the same route I had done yesterday, but it felt shorter for some reason. I really need one of these! I am actually starting to like running in the cold. I hope I feel this way the rest of the week.

~miles~ ? Who the hell knows.

*song of the day* The Killers “Somebody Told Me”

Dec. 30, 2007

No running today, just food, family and friends.

~miles~0

*song of the day* Colbie Caillet “Bubbly”

Dec. 29, 2007

I found a great canal road to run on today and left at 10 this morning. The sun was out and I was only cold for the first mile or so. It will be nice to get back to the desert where I don’t have to worry about breathing exhaust from all the traffic, and of course no bundling. It has been a nice break here as I had forgotten how beautiful Salt Lake is in the winter. It’s been a long time.

~miles~ 5 (hopefully)

*song of the day* Lily Allen “LDN”

Dec. 28, 2007

No running. . . but ice skating later! Should be fun! Great song for a great day. Enjoy!

~miles~0

*song of the day* KT Tunstall “Suddenly I See”

Dec. 27, 2007

Another late night visiting with family. I think I have gained 5 pounds already. A not so great perk of staying with the in-laws. This is a song I heard today for the first time, so here it is.

*song of the day* Jack Johnson “If I Had Eyes”

Dec. 26, 2007

I ran today, and it wasn’t as icy and cold as I thought it would be. My husband got to be my running partner and it was just another great perk of staying with the in-laws.

Dec. 25, 2007

I was going to hit the gym to this morning, but stayed up too late with family last night. I am not going to worry about trying to fit running in for a few days.

It’s 2am, and I just finished all the Santa stuff, and thought I might as well do the song of the day now. Have a great Christmas, and as usual, enjoy.

No running again, unless you can’t count the miles of running in retail stores! Merry Christmas Eve from the ‘happy elf’!

Travel day number 2. Here is one of the kids favorite car tunes (and video too).

Dec. 20, 2007

I got in a half-decent early run. It was cold, but I’m not sore, and actually, running was just what I needed to do today.

*song of the day* Natasha Bedingfield “If Your Gonna” (just song)

Dec. 19, 2007

I had a really hot bath last night, and then did a half hour of yoga before I went bed. I’m not as sore today, but took the day off of running anyway. I need a VACATION!

Today is a recovery day from the long run yesterday. This is obviously not a running song, but I didn’t run today. :) Enjoy.

*song of the day* Labhaoise Brennan “You’re On My Mind” (pronounced Lee-sha)

Dec. 17, 2007

I got to run with my original training partner for my first 3 miles, and it was great to run with someone who is more at my pace. I felt pretty fast today during my run, but it could have been that I was cold, and wanted to get home quick!

I have decided to run the Salt Lake Marathon this year, and so far 2 of my friends are coming along. Sounds like a ‘girls trip’ to me. :)

*song of the day* Fall Out Boy “Arms Race” (hard run)

Dec.16, 2007

I’m going to be baking, sewing, and doing crafts all day. Oh, and listening to music. I heard this song for the first time this morning, and I can’t get it out of my head. The video is really sweet too.

*song of the day* Ingrid Michaelson ” The Way I Am”

Dec. 15, 2007

We finally got our family photos done this morning, so no running. :( All of my procrastinating is catching up to me. I guess it’s 10 miles on Monday.

*song of the day* Diana Krall “Cry Me a River”

Dec. 14, 2007

I had a good run with 3 other women and a stroller. Slow, but nice. It’s very cold today and I had to wear a beanie and gloves, even going later at 7am. I guess it’s finally winter here. It hasn’t felt like Christmas yet, so maybe a Christmas song will help. This is a great one that I listened to no less than 100 times last year.

Dec. 13, 2007

Feel pretty good today. No running, just yoga and belly dancing. (yes belly dancing) I’ll have to blog about that later.

I just discovered this cover. I have changed my mind on the song of the day three times! I am sticking with this one because it is a beautiful day today! (finally)

*song of the day* Lily Allen “Mister Blue Sky”

Solo run today, lots on my mind. . . It’s definetly going to be a blogging day.

*song of the day* The Killers “Read My Mind”

Dec. 11, 2007

It was too rainy to run this morning, even for me. I used to run in snow, sleet, whatever, and now I am a total baby. I am a fair weather girl for sure. I guess it’s an hour of yoga for me tonight.

*song of the day* Dido “Sand in My Shoes” because I want to be on a beach right now. . .

Dec. 10, 2007

This morning was the first day I had to turn my heat on in my house. I think it’s only in the 50’s, but it feels cold to us! My run today was with someone from church that I didn’t know very well, and we discussed life, tolerance and other positive topics. Too often all you hear about is what’s wrong with the world, and it was refreshing to run with someone who ‘get’s it’. Nice morning.

Sunday. Real rest day. It’s also rainy, thus the song choice. Enjoy.

*song of the day* Maroon 5 “Sunday Morning”

Dec. 8, 2007

BRRR! It was drizzling almost the whole time I ran, but I wasn’t cold until I got home. No music today as I ran with friends, but if I was running through those mudslides by myself, I would have listened to this song for sure!

*song of the day* Fall Out Boy “The Take Over”

Dec. 7, 2007

No running again today. . . Damn! Had crazy busy day.

Dec. 6, 2007

Rest day.

Or in other words, woke up too late to run, and am really sore from yoga. (in a good way, of course!)

*song of the day* Jem “Just a Ride”. . . Great song!!

Dec. 5, 2007

The running is going fantastic, but I think I need to seriously think about cross-training.

I have been running long enough that I’m not getting a good enough work out just increasing my mileage. I am going to resume my tempo work in January, when my friends and I will be going to the track regularly, and this should help, but I want to start focusing on the rest of my body. I miss the feeling of sore muscles. Weird.

I found a yoga workout that I’m going to do twice a week during December. I know this will help my flexibility (or the lack of) and I also think it will be the perfect way to de-compress during the holiday season. I also feel really cool doing yoga. I’m not sure why this is, maybe it’s because I feel calm, centered, and at peace with my thoughts. . . or maybe it’s just how hot I look feel in my yoga outfits.

Yeah, I’m liking the yoga idea.

*Running song of the day (actually warm up song today) Muse “Starlight” Enjoy!
